Provincetown Restaurant Openings

Exotic meats and cheeses starred in last year's lavish
opening party on the Crown & Anchor patio.
Central House at the Crown & Anchor is throwing their annual Townie Party tonight, celebrating the beginning of the 2015 summer season with food and drink, and a chance to socialize a bit with your fellow Townies. This yearly event is always one of the best opening parties in town.
These photos are from last year's soiree, which featured a huge banquet table of charcuterie, a particular speciality at the Central House, with a splendid variety of cured meats and specialty cheeses from around the world. TheYearRounder has chosen it as the best charcuterie assortment in town, having sampled many restaurants' offerings.
These tasty grapefruit and blueberry martinis are among
the Crown's popular list of specialty cocktails.
With two new, very talented chefs in the kitchen this year, there are bound to be some interesting tastes and tidbits offered this evening. Executive Chef Michele Ragussis and Sous Chef James Cunningham have been turning out wonderful dishes in the dining room, and as the season is changing, they are bound to be featuring several new, seasonal ingredients, so I'm eager to see what tonight's party will bring.
This party is also a chance for us to sample some of the Crown's specialty cocktails, with several offered tonight at special prices, and perhaps a few wines to try from sommelier Peter Miscikoski's award-winning wine list.
Lorraine will open her restaurant on Tuesday this week,
to celebrate Cinco de Mayo.
Not exactly what you'd call a traditional PTown opening party, but it's bound to be a fun gathering tomorrow, May 5th, 2015, at Lorraine's restaurant, celebrating Cinco de Mayo. The 5th of May is the annual Mexican holiday in celebration of the battle and victory of Puebla.
Lorraine's is open for dinner Thursday through Sunday at this time of year, but this week she'll open the restaurant at 2 PM on Tuesday to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. Now with a full liquor license, Lorraine is once again squeezing beautiful, fresh limes for her amazing margarita. Tapas will be available from 4 to 5:30 PM, when dinner will start.
Get into the spirit and wear a costume, or simply don your sombreros and huaraches. Lorraine promises a free gift for those who dress for the occasion.
The Red Inn party is one of the town's best season openers.
The Red Inn will throw their opening party, always among the best of the season, this coming Wednesday, May 6th. The inn has been welcoming guests since 1915, so this is their 100th season, perhaps making this year's opening celebration even more special.
Typically this party offers fabulous hors d'oeuvres, and tastes of dishes that will appear on this year's menu, along with that fantastic view out over beautiful Provincetown Harbor from the Red Inn's wonderful waterfront deck.
Some sweet treats I sampled at a Red Inn opening party.
And don't forget to wear your dancing shoes. They set up a dance floor and a DJ booth, so folks will be twirling to the music well into the night. But please remember, boys and girls, NO STILETTOS! Spiked heels are damaging to the floors, and are not allowed.
With a few more opening parties still to come. I'll try to keep you posted so you won't miss any of these great celebrations of the coming season.
